Display only projects with active to do list (incomplete) to assigned user

From a user or sub contractor TO DO list view, a user receiving notices on their phone daily(for example) will see all active projects from the drop list making difficult to focus on which project to do first. A user or sub contractor with only TO DO tasks should not need to see all active projects of the company but rather only tasks assigned until completed. Sort tasks by project and by due date would be nice features from a user view.
