While the estimate remains unsigned, having optional sections could enhance it. For example, in the flooring section, we could add a line in a distinct color or style, allowing the client or contractor to select or deselect it.
An "Add to Preview Price" button could automatically add the cost to the estimate when checked. In a previous estimating program, I found this "base estimate plus options" method effective for upsells, as clients could simply select additional features, like a linear drain in the shower, with the cost displayed beside it.
Creating a template with essential and optional items as selectable questions could make estimating easier and faster, even for less experienced staff. It reduces the chance of missing items and allows flexibility by marking lines with "price upon inspection" or "further details needed."
