Issue:
The customer feels that Purchase Orders (POs) are not sufficient for managing subcontractors. While POs work well for one-time material purchases, they do not reflect how subcontracted work is managed in the construction industry.
Request:
The customer is asking for a dedicated Subcontract feature that allows them to:
Create and manage subcontract agreements separately from POs.
Issue Subcontract Change Orders that are directly linked to the subcontract.
Automatically update the subcontract value when a change order is approved.
Track subcontractor billing against the updated contract value.
Manage the subcontract scope of work and all changes from a single place.
In short, the customer wants a Subcontract Management workflow rather than treating subcontracted work as a standard Purchase Order.
Original message:
in construction a general contractor is managing Subcontracts and POβs. A PO is generally used to order product in a single transaction. Subcontracts are generally what we use in the construction industry for more complex tasks. I also need a way to write a subcontract change order that is directly tied to the subcontract and changes the value. From this we can manage billing and the scope of work.
